Darwin, AU/Cairns, AU – Thursday, Mar 6th, 2014

My flight does not leave until 7:55pm tonight.  I pack and need to check out of the hostel at 10am.  I plan to meet Richard for lunch around noon or 1pm.  He is out working on getting a job.  While waiting I get 1 day of wifi for $4 to make phone calls back to friends and family in America.  I meet Richard at about 12:30pm and we go to The Tap for beers and lunch before I leave.  My shuttle pick up is at 3:30pm and Richard carries my bag to the pick up area across the street from The Tap.  After I check in with Qantas, once again an aisle seat, I head to security.  For the first time ever in all my travels I had to sign a consent form for security to pat me down.  I do think it’s funny that Qantas is so concerned with sitting me in the aisle seat that not once have they buckled me in the aisle chair to get on/off the plane.  I have not been buckled in on any flight in Australia or New Zealand.  I should have done some writing but after beers with Richard at lunch I decided to watch the movie Olympus is Down on the flight to Cairns.  I take the Sky Palms shuttle bus to my backpackers, The Northern Greenhouse.  The shuttle is the bigger 20 seat mini bus with me having to transfer to the step, then to floor, then the seat. I don’t get checked in until 11:30pm and unpack some then go to bed.
