Darwin, AU – Wednesday, Mar 5th, 2014

I have lunch at Amazing Thailand before visiting Crocosaurus Cove. Amazing Thailand in located on Mitchell Street down from my lodging and next to Crocosaurus Cove.  The restaurant is accessible but the small ramp to the entrance door is steep and the door is heavy to open.  Thre’s no bathroom at the restaurant. Crocosaurs Cove is a crocodile park with a small aquarium and reptile area.  There are several crocodiles over 5 meters long that came from the Darwin Crocodile Farm.

After seeing these crocs from below I make my way to the second floor.  They have an elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floors and a lift to the baby crocodile area located through the reptile display.  The 2nd floor has an top view of the crocodiles I just saw through the glass.  The 2nd floor also has a display of many different kinds of stuffed crocodiles and where I got to hold a baby croc only 3 months old at 18″ long.  The entrance door to this area is a little heavy. The 2nd floor also a platform to feed crocodiles 4-5 years old by a fishing pole.  The staff does talks and demonstrations throughout the day about the fish, crocodiles and reptiles.  They also have crocodile feedings and a reptile area where you can hold a few reptiles.

I spend about 3 hours at the croc park the wheel around Bicentennial Park to get some photos.  The park is very wheelchair accessible.

I meet Richard at 6pm at Melaleuca Bar for a few drinks before going to shoot pool at The Fox.  Sammy ends up heading down to shoot pool with us.  The Fox, is also located on Mitchell Street which is the main street where a lot of hostels and bars are located.  I still can’t shoot pool that well with the different balls and rules. I lose every game but one.  The Fox is accessible and has an accessible bathroom which you need to get the key for from the bar.  The bartender can’t find the key and he thinks Hog’s Breath Bar, the owners of the building, has the key.  They are right next door.  He offers to go ask for the key but informs Richard that Hog’s Breath uses the accessible bathroom for storage, so it will need to be cleaned out.  Richard says, don’t worry about it he’ll just figure it out and use the regular bathroom.  Hog’s Breath will be hearing from me.  We stop at Melaleuca for drinks before ending the night, early for us.  The fire alarm goes off at 11:47pm at The Value Inn and the hostel is evacuated.  Second false alarm on this trip.  All is clear, I head to bed.
