Today I headed down to Darling Harbour and the Sydney Aquarium. I wheeled from the hotel to the harbour and it took me about one hour. I went the same way I go to Hyde Park passing the park going down Pitt Street taking a left on King Street. This takes you right to Darling Harbour. There is an elevator that takes you from the bridge down to the harbour. I bought a package deal to see two attractions for a discounted price $65. You can choose a package to see to 2, 3 and 4 attractions for a discount. I saw the Sydney Aquarium today and will come back to the harbor to see the Sydney Wildlife Park
The aquarium took about 2-1/2 hours to go through. The aquarium was very accessible and well maintained. There are 2 series of ramps going down to the large aquarium tanks. The ramps have about 8 switch backs about 20 feet long each. I was able to wheel up these with no problem. After the aquarium I wheeled around Darling Harbour for about 3 hours. The harbor is quite accessible with a fair amount of accessible bathrooms. I went up through Palm Groove to the Chinese Garden.
I had dinner overlooking the harbor at Helm Bar. The ground floor bar is accessible but the bathrooms are located on the second floor. There is an elevator to the second level but you need to notify the staff before using. I did not head up to the second level. They have a cab station by Darling Harbour but I wanted to wheel closer to the city center to get a cab. I was making great progress and got a little too aggressive and decide to wheel back to Potts Points. The wheel was not too bad until I got the William Street hill close to the completion of my trek. I started up the hill and was struggling and got the help of a nice girl to push me up the rest of the hill. I am going to look into the tram system that should take me to Kings Cross Station located right on the strip down from my hotel.
