Saturday

This is my last day in Cape Town. I spend some of the morning organizing to making packing much easier.  It feels good to have clean clothes on for the first time in 9 days.  I’ve missed friends and family more this trip than my entire Australia and New Zealand trip.  I believe this to be because for 2 weeks on safari I had no contact with anyone at home, although it was good to have no contact with the outside world for 2 weeks.  I wheel down to spend my last day at the waterfront.  I have a late lunch at Mitchell’s then head back to watch the World Cup at the hotel bar.

Sunday/Monday

Today and tomorrow will be very long, scheduled about 31 hours of traveling time. I leave at 2:10pm Sunday and don’t land in Cincinnati until Monday at 3:40pm.  My flight from Frankfort to Chicago is delayed 2 hours because of air conditioning problems.  I have a 3 hour 10 minute layover in Chicago so I should Ok.  The gate attendant in Frankfort books me on the 6:25pm flight from Chicago to Cincinnati in case I miss my original 1:25pm flight.  I arrive in Chicago with 1 hour to spare but they have booked 2 planes at the same gate.  We sit in the holding area for 15 minutes before starting to the gate.  After I depart the plane I have just 15 minutes to make my original flight.  At this time I’m certain I’m on the second flight to CVG.  I make it through customs and find out the 1:25pm flight is delayed until 4:25pm.  Mom and Dad pick me up from the airport, we get dinner and I make it to bed after being up for 38 hours.
