Monday
I sleep in after a busy day and late night yesterday. I spend 4 plus hours writing and posting to my blog. I relax in my room for a few hours before having dinner at the hotel bar watching the World Cup.
Tuesday
I wake up early today to find a tour company for the Cape Peninsula Tour. Alejandro and I were going to do the tour together but he is leaving Thursday, I’m leaving Sunday and can’t wait much longer. I’ve been told this is a must do tour while in Cape Town. I wheel down to Mile by Mile Tours located by Mitchell’s on the waterfront. The tour company currently has no one scheduled for the tour this week so I give them my email address to contact me if another person signs up for the tour. Mile by Mile requires a minimum of two people for the tour to run. It’s a nice sunny day so I wheel around the waterfront then go to Mitchell’s for snack and a few beers. I start back to the hotel at 5:30pm to watch the 6pm World Cup matches. I find a longer but easier way back to the hotel. There is a parking garage located by Dock Road and Breakwater Boulevard with switch back ramps. It has 6 switch back ramps that are very easy to wheel up. It brings you to Beach Road that takes you to Portswood Road where the Protea Hotel is located. I watch the nights World Cup matches in the hotel bar then call it a night.
Wednesday
I spend 6-1/2 hours writing and posting to my website. I receive an email from Mile by Mile Tours that they have booking for Friday for the Cape Peninsula Tour. I confirm via email for the Friday tour. Tomorrow I’m planning to visit Two Oceans Aquarium. I have dinner at the hotel bar watching the World Cup. While having drinks, I meet Donna and Mike who work on a TV show in Cape Town similar to 60 Minutes in the USA. We talk about my travels and they’re interested in the accessibility of Cape Town. If I was staying in town longer they would like to do a story on me.
Thursday
I start the day visiting Two Oceans Aquarium. The aquarium is just average, It’s not very big. I’ve been to several aquariums during my travels and this is my least favorite. I’ve once again picked a day to visit an aquarium or zoo on kids’ day. They are currently adding a new large scale exhibit scheduled to open in December 2014. The aquarium is accessible with ramps to each floor.
I have lunch at Simply Asia in the V & A Waterfront Mall. I stop by Mitchell’s for drinks on my way back to the hotel. I make my almost nightly stop at the hotel bar to watch the World Cup, tonight is the USA vs. Germany. USA loses 1-0 but makes the second round because Portugal beat Ghana 2-1. I go to bed early for the full day Cape Peninsula Tour tomorrow.
