I have plans to go to the aquarium and visit several attractions around the city today. I wake to pouring down rain and might have to change my plans. I make several calls to friends and family back in the states and several calls get dropped from the bad wifi service. By about noon the rain has stopped and the sun is out so I keep with my original plan. It’s about a 30 minute wheel down to the Aquarium. I happen to show up on what I think is kids day at the aquarium. The aquarium is OK, nothing too special but not worth $38. It is very accessible with ramps and elevators to all the areas. There are also accessible bathroom. I see an elephant shark for the first time. The best part was the large tank with the sharks, one of the better ones I’ve seen.
Lunch was a Nando’s an Australian chain restaurant serving Peri-Peri sauces. It was good but I got the extra hot chicken pita but the extra hot was mild to me. It was accessible but no accessible bathroom. I continue checking out the city since I have only one tour during my stay in Melbourne. I visit Treasury Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Carlton Gardens and Old Melbourne Gaol (the old jail).
After a fair amount of wheeling and a long day at The Great Ocean Road tomorrow I go back to the hostel for happy hour then early to bed.
